The Medical Explorers program is sponsored by ProHealth Care in partnership with the Boy Scouts of America Exploring Division. The program is designed to give area high school students the opportunity to explore careers in the health care industry. Registration takes place during the month of September.
The TB skin test involves two visits to the Clinic or Office. On the first visit, you receive a small injection into your skin that causes a "bleb". It feels like a small lump of fluid under your skin. You must return within 48 to 72 hours to have your arm checked by the staff. Confirm this time with the staff.
On the second visit, the staff will look at your TB skin test. It will either flatten out and look "normal" (negative result) or get larger, reddened and firm (positive result) during the 48 to 72 hour time frame. If a test is "positive", it means you have been exposed to TB, and need further tests to see if you are developing it. In this case, your observation request will be denied.
