PHC Transportation Services FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How much am I going to be charged for transportation?
You will be billed $7.50 per one-way trip ($15 round trip). If you require multiple trips per month, no more than 16 one-way trips per month will be billed to you.
Why am I being charged for transportation when I am already making donations?
Donations are always appreciated to help upgrade or replace equipment. However to offset a portion of our operational costs, all our patients/customers are equally billed a nominal trip charge.
Why am I charged a flat fee regardless of my travel distance?
Keeping the process as simple as possible will help us keep the service affordable.
How will I pay for my transportation?
A monthly, itemized invoice will be mailed to you.
May I make payment directly to the driver?
No cash or checks will be collected by the drivers.
Is the cost for transportation tax deductible, covered by insurance, or by Medicare or Medicaid?
This will be different for each person using the service. Contact your tax consultant, insurance company, or the Medicare or Medicaid program for answers.
What if I am unable to afford the cost of transportation?
ProHealth Care is committed to providing quality and value at the best price. If you require multiple trips per month, no more than 16 one-way trips per month will be billed to you. In addition, you may qualify for other transportation services or programs available in your area, and we will help provide that information to you.
Is there a reduced or special rate for senior citizens?
No.
Will this charge apply to the Home Infusion program?
No.
Will I have to pay for using transportation services when discharged home from the hospital?
Yes.
Why do I have to "share" transportation with others?
Private transportation services would not be affordable.
May I request a stop at the drugstore or grocery store on my way home?
No. This service is only provided to help PHC patients receive services from ProHealth Care.
May I be transported to a non-ProHealth Care provider for the same $7.50 charge?
No. Transportation to health care providers that are outside of the ProHealth Care organization may be arranged through the Pre-Paid Voucher Program.
Why can't I get a ride today?
We require 48 hours (2 working days) notice in order to guarantee a ride and to ensure that other passengers' arrival and pick-up times are not compromised.
How will you be improving the service?
We are committed to finding and implementing the most efficient, affordable and dependable services to those patients/customers who need specialized transportation.
Why do I sometimes need to wait so long to be taken home?
Trips home from your heath care provider are still subject to time changes or delays due to weather, traffic, appointments that may take longer than anticipated and other factors beyond the control of the Transportation Department.
