Joe Jendusa has had multiple sclerosis for 23 years, and for the last four years it had him confined to a wheelchair.
"They thought I would never get up - that I'd be in a nursing home by now," he recalls with a laugh. Yet today he rode 30 miles on his recumbent bike. He's walking with a walker, and soon hopes to switch to a cane. All of this is a result of physical therapy and medications as part of his treatment plan from ProHealth Care's MS Clinic at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.
"There are new drugs now that offer a great deal of hope -- 23 years ago, there was no hope," says Joe. "It's not unusual for someone in a wheelchair to spend every waking moment in front of a computer. So I had plenty of time to do research. And I am so impressed with what I've found at Waukesha Memorial. The fact that they can deliver this level of care in a cost effective manner. . . and how nice that it's right in my back yard. I'm thinking of riding my bike to my next treatment."
