Classes and Counseling

We offer individual and group instruction.  Your first appointment will be with one of our certified diabetes educators, for approximately one hour. During this visit, we will review your medical/nutritional history and medications, teach/review use of your glucose meter, perform a foot screening, and then determine which of our classes is right for you.  This is also your opportunity to work one-on-one with the educator to learn the basics of diabetes and address any questions that you may have about your diabetes.   

Classes are scheduled in two-hour blocks for four consecutive weeks. They will be held on various days in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings.  We encourage you to bring a friend or family member with you to the assessment and classes.

These classes will cover:

• Blood glucose monitoring
• Diabetes medication review
• Nutrition counseling and meal planning
• Support for you and your family
• Exercise counseling
• Stress management

A referral is needed for classes and we can assist with obtaining this information.  You may download and print the referral form here to take to your physician.
