Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

The Wound Healing Center offers hyperbaric medicine, for wounds that would benefit from this relatively new, rapidly emerging treatment. All physicians providing hyperbaric oxygen therapy at our Wound Healing Center have completed specialty training in hyperbaric medicine. Each location of ProHealth Care's Wound Healing Center features two hyperbaric oxygen chambers devoted to patients who would benefit from this treatment.

How does treatment work?

When you participate in a hyperbaric treatment, you lie down in a specially designed compartment that painlessly delivers 100 percent oxygen at higher pressures than you find in the natural environment. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy delivers 15 times the dissolved oxygen to your tissues compared with breathing normal room air. As a result, this modified atmosphere encourages your body to develop new capillaries into wound areas, which aids in healing. During treatment, you may listen to music, watch a movie or just rest.
