Published on August 18, 2009
ProHealth Care's successful pet therapy program is expanding to Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital this September. As part of the program, trainers and their certified therapy dogs will visit patients on Oconomowoc Memorial's Medical/Surgical, Intensive Care Unit and Pediatrics units on select days.
All participating dogs are trained and certified as therapy dogs by a national organization, such as Therapy Dogs, Inc. Oconomowoc Memorial is currently recruiting volunteer handlers and their certified therapy dogs for the program. Oconomowoc Memorial is asking for a 6-month commitment with one visit per week.
If interested, volunteers need to fill out an application and successfully complete the hospital's orientation program. If you or someone you know is interested in participating, please ask them to fill out and return the hospital's volunteer application. Download a PDF of the volunteer application now.
For more information about the Pet Therapy program and requirements to participate, please contact either Nicole Teigen, Clinical Care Partner, at (262) 560-4544 , or Tammy Fox-Husband, Volunteer Services Manager, at (262) 569-0293.
